Hi, I’m Laura.
I’m a yoga teacher, jewellery maker, mum, book lover, and lifelong learner based in Christchurch, New Zealand.
For many years I’ve been creating handmade crystal jewellery through Little Wing Designs, and more recently I’ve followed a long-held dream of becoming a yoga teacher. At first glance, those two things might seem completely unrelated, but for me they’re connected by the same threads: creativity, mindfulness, heritage, and connection.
I believe that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. Most of us are juggling work, family, changing bodies, responsibilities, and all the ups and downs that come with being human. That’s why the work I do is centred around helping people find moments of calm, beauty, grounding, and joy in everyday life.
Yoga has been part of my life on and off since my late teens, but it became especially important during my own journey through midlife. As a woman in my 40s, I understand the challenges that can come with stress, changing hormones, and feeling disconnected from yourself. My classes are designed to be welcoming, accessible, and free from the pressure to look or move a certain way. Yoga isn’t about being flexible or achieving perfect poses. It’s about feeling more at home in your own body.
Alongside teaching yoga, I continue to handcraft crystal jewellery, creating pieces inspired by nature, mindfulness, symbolism, and personal stories.
But the truth is, both of these paths began long before I realised it.
This photo is my mum and dad when they were younger. In so many ways, everything I’m doing now traces back to them.
Little Wing Designs was named after my dad. His favourite song was Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix, and it was played at his funeral. He was always creating something, working with his hands, making, building—there was always a project on the go. When I started making jewellery, I didn’t really question where that came from. It was just there. Looking back, it’s so clearly him.
Then there’s my mum’s side.
I’ve always been interested in yoga, but it took on a much deeper meaning when I started exploring my mum’s ancestry and tracing it back through India. That was a turning point for me. It sparked a desire to understand not just the physical practice of yoga, but its history, philosophy, and deeper traditions. That curiosity eventually led me to complete my yoga teacher training.
So in completely different ways, they’ve both shaped the path I’m on today.
Everything I create, whether it’s a yoga class or a piece of jewellery, carries a little piece of that story with it.
Thank you for being here.
Laura x
